My Story & Why It Changed How I View Life & Design In A More Thoughtful & Meaningful Way

Everything was great.

Almost two years ago, I was in the middle of finishing my book, working with several interior design clients, creating art every day and truly very happy with everything I was doing. Then something happened that literally changed me forever; my beautiful sister, Louise, passed away. It was sudden, it was shocking, it was cancer. I was heart broken.

The grief of the loss was incredibly difficult for my parents who live next door to me. I can’t even imagine the pain of loosing a child so I went right into trying to help them the best I could. My father became very ill (thankfully he's better now) and there was no time to even think about what this amount of stress was doing to my physical body. I was doing everything to help everyone else and then one day found myself with nothing left inside. I was completely depleted. My shoulders were literally up in my ears and I was in a constant state of pain to the point that I thought I had ruptured a disk in my neck.

It never occurred to me that these were physical responses to grief and exhaustion. I have experienced loss before but this time I couldn’t find the strength to “bounce back”.

So I went on a journey. I had to. There were still clients and children and family to care for.

It started with my usual “go-to’s”; yoga, exercise, walks in nature and my art. As I started to be able to breathe again, and felt my shoulders begin to soften back down, I saw how these simple rituals were healing me. I went deeper. I changed my diet and I changed my environment. I consistently wrote and painted in my journal every day.

Then one day I realized that life was going on whether I liked it or not. My daughters were thriving and applying to colleges. My love for my husband grew even more than I thought possible and I knew it was time to really commit to making a positive shift. It wasn’t easy and to be honest I lost a few friends along the way. When you are vulnerable you see very clearly who is in your life for the right reasons. It’s who was there when things were the most difficult that I cherish the most.

Growth never happens when it’s easy.

I’ve grown a lot and I learned so much about how important it is to take care of yourself so you can be your best self to serve and help others.

As an interior designer, I know the power of changing a person’s environment. I have seen it over and over again. When I was going through this period of “shift making”, I also made changes to how I approached the way I design interiors.

Your home is your haven, your sanctuary, your safe place to land. It is where you go to restore your soul!

As I mentioned, I kept a daily journal about this time of transformation (and still do) for over a year and a half. I have now seen on a first hand basis how this approach to soulful design and self-care is incredibly powerful. By incorporating over fifteen years of interior design experience, a lifetime of experience as an artist, my passion for dance and yoga, and my love of nature and nourishing foods I was able to heal my broken heart and depleted body.

This page used to list what services I offer as an interior & graphic/product designer.

I am so deeply grateful for the many years that I was able to contribute that offering to so many. But now I want to offer you something so much deeper and meaningful.

I want to give YOU the tools, with my support and guidance, of how you can live your best life, in the most perfect environment for you!
